The Chicago Punk Database
This site intends to be a collections of bands, members, labels etc. for the Chicago punk scene. This site mostly focuses on the earlier Chicago scene - but is open to all eras past and present. Most information on this page focuses on Chicago punk before 1990, though there is a growing collection of information from the 1990s and beyond. If you have content to add for an era feel free to contribute. All you have to do to add pages is create an account and start making pages. Click here for more info on how to edit pages.
There are 741 articles in the database, most of which are small and need more information. Some suggestions to get started - add a link to an unlisted band on left-hand side of this page, go to a band's page and add members/instruments, fix any spelling errors, or create new page about your favorite Chicago Punk record. Anything you can add will help tremendously, so please contribute today!

Trial By Fire record released after 35 yearsAlthough it was recorded in 1982, Trial By Fire's record was never released at the time. After thirty five years Alona's Dream Records finally gave it a formal release. The sounds holds up today and could very well have been the first hardcore record from a Chicago band. You'll notice many songs that have been done by other bands, including the famous opener to Naked Raygun's Vanilla Blue. Do yourself a favor and buy a copy from Alona's Dream, you won't regret it. |
Podcast on Big Black's AtomizerJohn Pierson (aka Jughead from Screeching Weasel) and Russ Forster did a fantastic podcast on Big Black's Atomizer record. It has interviews with Santiago Durango, Steve Albini, Camilo Gonzalez and Jeff Pezzati on the beginnings of Big Black and how that record came to be. The Jugheads Basement podcast previously focused on such groundbreaking 80s Chicago records as Naked Raygun's Throb Throb and Screeching Weasel's My Brain Hurts. Listen to it here |
