The Chicago Punk Database
This site intends to be a collections of bands, members, labels etc. for the Chicago punk scene. This page specifically focuses on the earlier Chicago scene - though there is no formal cutoff date, the information on this page pretty much focuses on Chicago punk before 1990. If you have content to add for the early-to-mid 90s feel free to contribute. All you have to do to add pages is create an account and start making pages. Click here for more info on how to edit pages.
There are 741 articles in the database, most of which are small and need more information. Some suggestions to get started - add a link to an unlisted band on left-hand side of this page, go to a band's page and add members/instruments, fix any spelling errors, or create new page about your favorite Chicago Punk record. Anything you can add will help tremendously, so please contribute today!

Podcast on Big Black's AtomizerJohn Pierson (aka Jughead from Screeching Weasel) and Russ Forster do a fantastic podcast on Big Black's Atomizer record. It has interviews with Santiago Durango, Steve Albini, Camilo Gonzalez and Jeff Pezzati on the beginnings of Big Black and how that record came to be. The Jugheads Basement podcast previously focused on such groundbreaking 80s Chicago records as Naked Raygun's Throb Throb and Screeching Weasel's My Brain Hurts. Listen to it here |
Listen to the Code Blue compKilled By Death Records recently posted a mp3 listing of the Code Blue comp, one of the best compilations of the 1980s. It was put out by local zine Last Rites in 1984 and features Chicago standouts Naked Raygun, Articles of Faith, Big Black, Out of Order, ROTA, GNP and Nadsat Rebel. Give it a listen here |
