The spam bots have found this board so as a short-term fix I'm going to disable editing on this board. When I have more time (before 7/15) I intend to put in better spam measures and upgrade to the latest mediawiki. We don't get a ton of updates as it is but if you need to do edits before then email me gantry at gmail dot com and I can get you access. 07:29, 30 June 2014 (CDT) | The spam bots have found this board so as a short-term fix I'm going to disable editing on this board. The Chicago Punk Database
This site intends to be a collections of bands, members, labels etc. for the Chicago punk scene. This page specifically focuses on the earlier Chicago scene - though there is no formal cutoff date, the information on this page pretty much focuses on Chicago punk before 1990. If you have content to add for the early-to-mid 90s feel free to contribute. All you have to do to add pages is create an account and start making pages. Click here for more info on how to edit pages.
There are 741 articles in the database, most of which are small and need more information. Some suggestions to get started - add a link to an unlisted band on left-hand side of this page, go to a band's page and add members/instruments, fix any spelling errors, or create new page about your favorite Chicago Punk record. Anything you can add will help tremendously, so please contribute today!

RIP Iain Burgess and Rick PonceIn early February 2010, Chicago long two vital and longtime contributors to their music scene. Engineer Iain Burgess is often created with crediting the "Chicago Sound" and recorded just about every Chicago band you can think of in the 1980s. Rick Ponce had been playing guitar and attending punk/metal shows consistently from the 1980s until his death. Both men died of issues related to cancer, R.I.P. Rick and Iain |
600 Pages! Thanks to everyone who helped punkdatabase reach 600 unique pages (for page #500 was the Insane War Tomatoes). Pretty damn remarkable when I think about it. There's still a lot of work to be done, especially with regards to venues and some of the more obscure bands. Please keep on contributing and lets see if we can hit a cool 1000! -Gantry |
