The Chicago Punk Database
This site intends to be a collections of bands, members, labels etc. for the Chicago punk scene. This page specifically focuses on the earlier Chicago scene - though there is no formal cutoff date, the information on this page pretty much focuses on Chicago punk before 1990. All you have to do to add pages is create an account and start making pages. Click here for more info on how to edit pages.
There are 741 articles in the database, most of which are small and need more information. Some suggestions to get started - add a link to an unlisted band on left-hand side of this page, go to a band's page and add members/instruments, fix any spelling errors, or create new page about your favorite Chicago Punk record. Anything you can add will help tremendously, so please contribute today!
Recent News
You Weren't There Debut A SuccessJoe Losurdo of Life Sentence made a documentary of the Chicago Punk scene from 1977-1984, called You Weren't There. It premiered to a sold out crowd on Saturday, November 24th at the Portage Theatre, 4050 N. Milwaukee Ave., Chicago. There was also an after-film show at Beat Kitchen featuring Mentally Ill (the Gacy's Place lineup that have never played live EVER), Negative Element (who had not played since 1983), End Result and a "Strike Under cover band" featuring Steve Bjorklund. |
500 Pages! Thanks to everyone who helped punkdatabase reach 500 unique pages (which for the record was the Insane War Tomatoes). Pretty damn remarkable when I think about it. There's still a lot of work to be done, especially with regards to venues and some of the more obscure bands. Please keep on contributing and lets see if we can hit a cool 1000! -Gantry |
