Stages was a large club that played a punk shows in the early 80s. Located on Clark just north of Addison, Stages had two floors and attracted national acts. The upstairs area played the bigger acts, while the lower area, called Waves played more local stuff.
In late 1981 Waves became a Reggae club called Cool Runnings. In July 1982 Stages morphed into The Metro and at some point the basement area became Smart Bar.
