Robert McNaughton was the guitarist for The Effigies from 2004 until 2010. He appeared on the Reside album and the ...on the move or in danger (stop) This will have been my life (stop) EP. Prior to his involvement with the Effigies, he played music for many years with Effigies' bassist Paul Zamost, including in the bands The Indicators, Greys, and Lemmings.

Robert McNaughton wrote the score to the film Henry, Portrait of a Serial Killer, directed by John McNaughton (no relation). The Indicators also had a song on the soundtrack to the movie's 1996 sequel.
