Psi Bears was the name Silent Language used for their first performance, an out-of-town warmup gig in Milwaukee. That show was in May of 1983 and noted in Matter #4. At that point the band consisted of Lorna Donley (previously of Da), Philip Galanter, and Jed Fox.
