Durty Nellies

Durty Nellies is a venue in Palatine. Though it has moved to a larger location, the original Nellies hosted quite a few punk shows in the late 1980s. It housed some of the earliest Screeching Weasel shows with the original lineup, among others. After Ben Weasel booked the a Weasel show at Nellies, it went well enough that the band began booking shows on a monthly basis. After the folks in Weasel got too busy touring to handle the booking, it was handled by friend of the band Matt Nelson. After a little while Matt brought the booking over to a different (and larger) venue in Elmhurst called McGregors.
