Reckless Youth, (their last show)
Street Brats,
and the band of Ex Urbn Dk Members: The Glory Whores.

This was one of the largest Oi! and Streetpunk shows to ever be held in that part of Cook County, providing cheap access to the General community as well as travelers from all over who came to see the event.
The Chicago Punk Database
This site intends to be a collections of bands, members, labels etc. for the Chicago punk scene. This page specifically focuses on the earlier Chicago scene - though there is no formal cutoff date, the information on this page pretty much focuses on Chicago punk before 1990. If you have content to add for the early-to-mid 90s feel free to contribute. All you have to do to add pages is create an account and start making pages. Click here for more info on how to edit pages.

There are NUMBEROFARTICLES articles in the database, most of which are small and need more information. Some suggestions to get started - add a link to an unlisted band on left-hand side of this page, go to a band's page and add members/instruments, fix any spelling errors, or create new page about your favorite Chicago Punk record. Anything you can add will help tremendously, so please contribute today!
RIP Iain Burgess and Rick Ponce
In early February 2010, Chicago long two vital and longtime contributors to their music scene. Engineer Iain Burgess is often created with crediting the "Chicago Sound" and recorded just about every Chicago band you can think of in the 1980s. Rick Ponce had been playing guitar and attending punk/metal shows consistently from the 1980s until his death. Both men died of issues related to cancer, R.I.P. Rick and Iain</td>

Thanks to everyone who helped punkdatabase reach 500 unique pages (which for the record was the Insane War Tomatoes). Pretty damn remarkable when I think about it. There's still a lot of work to be done, especially with regards to venues and some of the more obscure bands. Please keep on contributing and lets see if we can hit a cool 1000! -Gantry

Formed in the late 1990s, the Chicago-based Skullkrusher also known as Deadscene, Wardogs and The Revenge was a hardcore punk band from the Chicago area. (Also Not to be confused with the band SKULLKRUSHER from California formed in 2006.) The Band was known to incorporate influences from European d-beat bands such as Wolfpack, Anti-Cimex, Terveet Kadet, The Rude Kids, Destruktions, Rojers, Mob 47, Skitslickers, and Discard along with American hardcore influences such as Cro Mags, Warzone, Judge, Infest, Slapshot and SFA into their sound. Discharge was not of direct influence in the sound of Skullkrusher, in contrast to the dismoniker bands.

Early Years: Bio
The band was formed by The End of Deadscene in 1997, and the entrance of Natasha on Guitar and Joel and Peter leaving the band permanently.

Their first show as Skullkrusher was an Anti-Racist Action benefit at the Fireside Bowl in Chicago. At this show, the name was simply Skullkrusher with the lineup at that time being Justin/Vocals, Natasha/Bass, Jason/Guitar and Dan/Drums.

Members
*Jason (Ex-Deadscene vocals / guitar)
*Natasha (guitar/also from Oi!and Streetcore, bands Drunken Catholics, Bleach Battalion)
*Dan (Ex-Deadscene went on to play in Southern Illinois hardcore band Rujina)(drums
*Peter (Ex-Deadscene studio bass on "The Bomb Raid" cassette)
*Justin (vocals / guitar 1998-1999)
*Louie (bass guitar 1999-2002)
*Bobby (guitar on Terrorcore cassette)
*Joe Skeletor (went on to form Southkore Records and play drums in No Slogan)(guitar 2000-2001)

As of 2012 Both Jason and Natasha are the only ex members still active but now in the bands Gravemist, Bleach Battalion and Harder Holiday.

Official Discography
Skullkrusher-Total Skullkrusher CD
Skullkrusher-The Bomb Raid
Skullkrusher-Smash Terror Core
Skullkrusher-Deathsquad (On Split release with Skeletor Records)

The band also self-released three DIY CD collections, as well as one 7" record which was a split with the Swedish band Article Nine on TDBL Records.
The split record 7" with Article Nine received positive reviews widely, in print and online in such underground zines as Aversionline and MaximumRockNRoll.

Skullkrusher & The Distro gave away thousands of free cassettes but never were any of these actual "releases" they were just the live recordings of the practice sessions in a demo form. So Many Different copies were made and they were never numbered so it is impossible to say just how many of them remain or were initially distributed.

After this show, the name was changed to simply Skullkrusher with the lineup at that time being Justin/Vocals, Natasha/Bass, Jason/Guitar and Dan/Drums.

Members
*Jason (vocals / guitar)
*Natasha (guitar/(went on to have solo reggae/ska career and play in the Oi! band Bleach Battalion)
*Dan (went on to play in Southern Illinois hardcore band Rujina)(drums
*Peter (Ex-Deadscene studio bass on "The Bomb Raid" cassette)

As of 2012 Both Jason and Natasha are the only ex members still active but now in the bands Gravemist, Bleach Battalion and Harder Holiday.

Discography
The band gave away free cassettes but never were any of these actual "releases" they were just the live recordings of the practice sessions in a demo form.

Actual Discography:

RSNservices: Another brilliant and hopefully adequate post clarifying the bands past by the singer.

Formed in the late 1990s, the Chicago-based Skullkrusher and also known as Deadscene, Wardogs and "The Revenge was a hardcore punk band from the Chicago area. Not to be confused with the band SKULLKRUSHER from California formed in 2006 The Band was known to incorporate influences from Swedish d-beat bands such as Wolfpack, Anti-Cimex,Terveet Kadet,The Rude Kids,Destruktions,Rojers, Mob 47, Skitslickers, and Discard along with American hardcore influences such as Cro Mags,Warzone,Judge,Infest, Slapshot and SFA into their sound. Discharge was not of direct influence in the sound of Skullkrusher, in contrast to the dismoniker bands.

Early Years: Bio
The band was formed by The Demise of Deadscene in 1997 , and the entrance of Natasha on Guitar and Joel and Peter leaving the band permanently.

Their first show was a South Chicago Anti-Racist Action benefit at the Fireside Bowl in Chicago. After this show, the name was changed to simply Skullkrusher with the lineup at that time being Justin/Vocals, Natasha/Bass, Jason/Guitar and Dan/Drums.

Members
*Jason (vocals / guitar)
*Natasha (went on to have solo reggae/ska career and play in the Oi! band Bleach Battalion) (guitar 1999-2000, 2002-2003)
*Dan Dead (went on to play in Southern Illinois hardcore band Rujina)(drums)
*Unruly Pete (bass on "The Bomb Raid" cassette)
*Justin (vocals / guitar 1998-1999)
*Louie (bass guitar 1999-2002)
*Berto Krusher (guitar on Terrorcore cassette)
*Joe Skeletor. (went on to form Southkore Records and play drums in No Slogan)(guitar 2000-2001)

Discography
The band gave away free cassettes but never were any of these actual "releases" they were just the live recordings of the practice sessions in a demo form.
Actual Discography:
Skullkrusher-Total Skullkrusher CD
*
Skullkrusher-The Bomb Raid
*
Skullkrusher-Smash Terror Core
Skullkrusher-Deathsquad (On Split release with Skeletor Records)

The band also self-released three DIY CD collections, as well as one 7" record which was a split with the Swedish band Article Nine on TDBL Records.
The split record 7" with Article Nine received positive reviews widely, in print and online in such underground zines as Aversionline and MaximumRockNRoll.

As of 2012 Both Jason and Natasha are the only ex members still active but now in the bands Gravemist, Bleach Battalion and Harder Holiday.
