Steve was part of the [[Rainbow Girls]] with childhood friends [[Pierre Kezdy]] of Strike Under, Naked Raygun/Pegboy along with [[Mike Mockenhaupt]] of [[Six Feet Under]]). Steve currently lives in Evanston and has been long time married to photographer Nancy Bennert. They have a daughter Ana, who lives in Brooklyn, NY and is the bass player and singer for the all female group, The Girls at Dawn.

Steve Economou is the longtime drummer for The Effigies, who was part of their original and current lineup. Steve and John Kezdy had been best friends since childhood and decided to form a band after high school. Steve was part of the Rainbow Girls with childhood friends Pierre Kezdy of Strike Under, Naked Raygun/Pegboy along with Mike Mockenhaupt of Six Feet Under). Steve currently lives in Evanston and has been long time married to photographer Nancy Bennert.
