Poison Squirrel was an old Chicago band, more associated with New Wave, during the late 70s and early 80s (until at least 1984). According to Am I Right's Cool Band Names page, their name has the following origin:

"It comes from a church fund raiser dinner in Illinois where they served all game. A bunch of people got sick. This led the Pastor to blame it on "Poison Squrrel."

Among the venues Poison Squirrel played was O'Banion's, and they played with bands such as The Imports and The Cramps.
