Misfits was the first major club in the Rogers Park/Edgewater area to book punk bands in the early 1980s. Misfits was in operation from May, 1981 to June 1982. The short-lived venue made its mark booking many seminal punk bands of the day including those listed below. One notable achievement was seeking out and bringing Alex Chilton back into the spotlight. Soon after Misfits, Club C.O.D., which also booked many notable punk bands, opened about one block away.
