Jim Desmond, the gruff vocalist credited by the New York Times with inventing the Poetry Slam concept, performed as front man for the hard-rocking quintet in the early eighties. The band, featuring guitarists Craig Williams and Jeff Czech, bassist Derek Brand and drummer Jeff Thomas, played Tuts, Gaspars and Waves.
