The Big Four is a term Gantry uses on this site to describe the four most important bands of the Chicago punk scene during the 1980s - Articles of Faith, Big Black, The Effigies and Naked Raygun. These four bands were the biggest names, had the largest impact, drew the largest crowds and reached out to audiences beyond Chicago. Those other bands during this time had their importance, no other Chicago acts can match the impact of these four during the 80.
