All Night Garage Sale was the initial incarnation of Screeching Weasel. The band formed in the summer 1986 and consisted of Ben Foster (aka Ben Weasel), John "Jughead" Pierson, and Steve Dubick. The band name was chosen by Steve. Aside from some practice tapes, there were no recordings made by the group. With Ben finding playing the bass guitar and singing at the same time more difficult than he'd imagined, the band decided to find a more experienced bassist. A friend hooked the group up with Vince Vogel in the fall of 1986 and the band changed their name to Screeching Weasel.
